Anders Osborne

NewMusicforOldFolks says …

From his headquarters in New Orleans Anders Osborne touches a variety of genres. Based in the blues he expands into roots rock and his longer jams and guitar playing makes him welcome in the jam band and summer festival scenes. Osborne is a member of the Voice of the Wetlands All-Statrs and has also played with The North Mississippi All-Stars' Luther Dickinson on acoustic projects. No matter your taste, Anders Osborne's music is worth looking into.

Bio (from the artist's website)

Between the potency of his richly detailed songwriting, his intensely emotional, soulful vocals and his piercing, expert guitar work, New Orleans’ Anders Osborne is a true musical treasure. He is among the most original and visionary musicians writing and performing today. Guitar Player calls him “the poet laureate of Louisiana’s fertile roots music scene.” New Orleans' Gambit Weekly has honored Osborne as the Entertainer Of The Year. OffBeat named him the Crescent City’s Best Guitarist for the third year in a row, and the Best Songwriter for the second straight year. Osborne also won Song Of The Year for his composition, Louisiana Gold. Osborne’s latest released Flower Box, his second full-length album of 2016, recorded in his hometown of New Orleans late last year, Flowerbox is a heavier, guitar-driven follow-up to the acclaimed Spacedust & Ocean Views. PEACE (2013): With Peace, Anders Osborne continues the journey started by American Patchwork, Black Eye Galaxy and Three Free Amigos, emerging from a whirlwind of emotional chaos and moving toward a sense of inner peace. Recorded at Dockside Studios in Louisiana and produced by Osborne and Warren Riker, Peace looks at the title subject from all angles. Drawing strength and inspiration from his family and friends, Osborne created the most observational record of his career.

STARDUST AND OCEAN VIEWS (2016): I like Anders Osborne ... a lot. But sometimes I wonder whether Anders Osborne likes Anders Osborne. There's something to be said for an artist when no two of an his or her albums sound alike. But Osborne is kind of all over the place. That's not 100 percent true. Osborne has a very distinctive voice and his excellent guitar work permeates every album. It's just that sometimes he's a Blues artist and other times it seems like he's Neil Young during his Grunge period. Then he's put together a Jam band a la Widespread Panic. Is he really this eclectic, or is he just trying to reinvent himself?
