Nick Moss

NewMusicforOldFolks says …

You're not going to find many blues guitar players better than Nick Moss. Straight ahead and driving, Moss puts on a killer live show and the recording don't disappoint either. Moss has been nominated for 16 prestigious Blues Music Awards since 2002. Moss' 2007 release Play It 'Til Tomorrow was voted by critics as one of The Decade's Best Blues: 25 Great Albums That Defined the Past 10 Years in Blues Revue Magazine. In the newest effort, under the Nick Moss Band moniker, Moss gives up some of the vocal duties to Michael Ledbetter. But while Moss is not a bad singer, you're paying for the guitar, and he always delivers there.

Bio (from the atrist's website)

Nick Moss and his band have been featured performers at blues festivals across the globe but it's at home in Chicago – the capital city of the blues – where he and his band get the ultimate stamp of approval from one Hall of Famer and blues icon Buddy Guy. Music fans the world over come to his famous club where they'll often find Moss playing that prestigious stage, booked by the icon himself because "Nick is a favorite at my club, Legends. He always works hard to please the audience." Other luminaries are equally effusive in their praise, rare in the competitive world of guitar gods, as none other than former Roomful of Blues bandleader and distinguished solo artist Ronnie Earl declares "Nick Moss is my favorite guitarist," high praise from one of the greatest practitioners of the instrument. TIME AIN'T FREE (2015): Nick Moss has followed his heart from the very beginning of his 25-year career, faithfully and passionately playing traditional Chicago blues the way he learned from listening to and playing with the best. He widened his stylistic scope on the critically-acclaimed Privileged and Here I Am, stretching himself and challenging his devoted audience to hear him in a whole new way. One listen to Time Ain't Free makes clear those records are fully-realized works, as well as mile markers on a journey to an ever-expanding idea of what is possible. From the rollicking opener She Wants It through the finale (Big Mike's) Sweet Potato Pie, we are treated to jams, grooves, ballads, shuffles, and blues. Nick's musical and career trajectory has been both upward and forward from the start, and Time Ain't Free is the exhilarating sound of a man accelerating into the future.
