NewMusicForOldFolks says …

Somewhere between Widespread Panic and Phish there's moe.. The band calls itself a "Progressive Rock" act, and that's a fair assessment. But it's a Jam band at heart with a lot of Yes and early Genesis as influences. This is a group of five very good musicians and it shows in every song. The new studio album, No Guts No Glory is very good, but like most Jam bands, moe. is best experienced live. And there's no shortage of live recordings out there — as the album list below shows. All those Warts and All albums are live. Also like many Jam bands, every concert is recorded, so if you attend a moe. show, you can get a copy of it from the band's website.

Bio (From the artists' website)

moe. is the preeminent progressive Rock band on the music scene today — a quintet of world class musicians, whose creative output equals that of their longevity. In a remarkable career that has touched three decades and produced a discography of 24 albums, the Sugar Hill Records recording artist of Al Schnier and Chuck Garvey on guitars and vocals, Rob Derhak on bass and vocals, Jim Loughlin on percussion and vibes, and Vinnie Amico on drums, continue to push the standard for performance art higher and further. Whether touring around the globe, headlining music festivals, or sharing the stage with such diverse acts as the Allman Brothers, Dave Matthews Band, The Who, Robert Plant, Government Mule, or Blues Traveler, among many others, what keeps moe. at the forefront of the music scene is not only the energy and vitality of their music and songwriting, but the showmanship in which it is delivered. Their music is clever, melodic, refined, filled with “ferocious guitar riffs” and “intricate rhythms” (Relix); their performances are entertaining, mesmerizing, and epic. (more)

NO GUTS, NO GLORY (2014): Over a journey spanning nearly a quarter-century, moe. has let their knack for dynamic, democratic improvisation influence nearly every facet of the band's existence. In concert, they stretch the boundaries of their source material into intricate, set-long suites where distinct songs seamlessly segue into one another in exhilarating fashion. Behind the scenes, moe. continues to evolve to test their musicianship and songwriting while growing as an ensemble by applying the same resourcefulness and willingness to take risks to their studio recordings. Their new album, fittingly titled No Guts, No Glory finds moe. at their most inventive, infectious, and resilient.
