Martin Sexton

NewMusicForOldFolks says …

Martin Sexton sounds like a lot of different artists rolled into one. I've seen one description that calls him a mix of Van Morrison, Al Green, Otis Redding and Aaron Neville. That's some serious company. And while I don't want to quibble with that particular writer, I hear John Prine and maybe even some Lyle Lovett. The newest album, Mixtape Of The Open Road, is a lot of fun. Many of the artists in the "new Folk" genre seem to want to be incredibly serious. Sexton's new album contains songs like "Do It Daily" and "Shut up and Sing." Exactly.
