Lindi Ortega
NewMusicForOldFolks says …
Lindi Ortega is difficult to classify. I'm guessing that can be a blessing and a curse for an artist. The Canadian singer-songwriter has taken up residence in Nashville and, as a result, she's seen as "Country" or at least "Alternative Country." What that really means is that about half the songs on her newest album, Faded Gloryville, have a little steel guitar twang to them. But there's some Rock'abilly and some Folk and straight-ahead Rock ’n Roll on there as well. It's all very good. Check it out.

Bio (From the artist's website)
There’s a sign on the outskirts of town. A buzzard sits atop it. The grass brown and parched below. It’s dusty, faded, chipped at the edges, graffiti filling the empty white spaces, a bullet hole or two visible in the large, black letters that read: Welcome to Faded Gloryville. Leave your dreams behind. In the eyes and imagination of acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriter Lindi Ortega it’s a place we’ve all been, we’re all familiar with or will one day know all to well. FADED GLORYVILLE (2015): Lindi Ortega is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Toronto who now lives in Nashville, Tennessee. Her 2015 album has been released by Last Gang Records and she says about: "Faded Gloryville isn't just about music, it's about anything that brings you down, whether it's dreams not coming true or relationships not working out, and it's message is this: you can go to a place where you're feeling really down about things, but it's what you do afterwards - do you decide to reside there forever, or do you leave and make the situation better - that matters. You have to travel through Faded Gloryville to get to paradise."
