The Roomsounds

NewMusicForOldFolks says …

Any band that labels itself a "modern-day Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers" can't be all bad (although I take exception to the idea that TP is somehow ancient history). The Roomsounds certainly are not trying to shy away from their influences. You can hear the Heartbreakers, The Stones and even The Beatles and The Byrds in their newest album, Elm St, released last year. The album was recorded at the legendary FAME studios in Muscle Shoals, Ala. There's something magic in that place, and The Roomsounds seem to have captured some if it on this album. These are twentysomethings playing songs that would have been right at home a couple of decades before any of them were born. Check them out.

Bio (From the artist's webpage)

There’s a reason legions of young rock fans fall in love with their parents’ records. It’s the same reason so many radio stations still play classic rock: Great music never gets old. And it's what prompted singer and guitarist Ryan Michael to reinvent his sound, leaving behind his teenage past in a Warped Tour band signed to a Warner Bros. subsidiary and relocating from Connecticut to Texas. “We wanted to immerse ourselves in the South,” explains Michael. “To be around the best blues and country players. It all just seemed so much more authentic than the shit going on around me.” (more)

ELM ST. (2016): Dallas-based rock & roll band the Roomsounds went to Muscle Shoals' FAME Studios to record their sophomore album, Elm St. "We were were a well-oiled machine by time we got to FAME," wrote Roomsounds frontman Ryan Michael. "We played over 250 shows in between the first and second album so it allowed us to gel as a band. And certainly, vocally I've found my place. I'm writing in my range, aware that I'm going to go perform these songs live for years so I better be able to sing the hell out of them." — AllMusic.com
